Focus On in-Canada Applicants:

For 2025, the focus of Federal draws through the Express Entry system will be inviting applicants with Canadian work experience to apply for Permanent Residence through the Canadian Experience Class program. 

Changes to Category Based Draws:

• The category for Transport occupations has been removed.

• A new category for Education occupations has been added. Occupations include kindergarten, elementary and secondary school teachers, elementary and secondary school teacher assistants, and early childhood educators and assistants.

• The Healthcare category has been expanded to include Healthcare and Social Services occupations. New occupations in this category include various technologists and technicians, and social service workers. 

• The lists of eligible occupations in each category has been amended, with both occupations being added and removed from each category. The most notable changes include the number of occupations which have been removed from the STEM category, including architects, software engineers, software developers, data scientists, and computer and information systems managers. Insurance brokers have been added into the STEM category.

• Cooks are now included in the Trades occupations
